Guided Tours

Wewelsburg District Museum offers guided tours through all of its departments. You can choose between public guided tours that take place regularly (please find the dates of public guided tours in the german version of our website below "Veranstaltungen") and individual guided tours. While you can participate without prior announcement in the public guided tours, we appeal to you for prior arrengement for individual guided tours (please call us: Tel. 0049 / (0) 2955 / 7622-0).


Guided tour in german language                     40 €

Guided tour in english language                      50 € (other languages are available on request)

Beside the costs for the guided tour, there´s an additional entry fee of 1 € per pers. in the Historical Museum of the Prince Bishopric of Paderborn.

Participation in public guided tour                    3 € per Pers. (include the entry)

In our department "Wewelsburg 1933 - 1945 Memorial Museum", guided tours are free of charge for pupils, vocational trainees and apprentices, and students.

Experience history in Germany´s triangular castle

Public Guided Tour in English through the exhibition Wewelsburg District Museum
- From a Stone Age Tomb to the Triangular Castle -

on December 4th, 2016, 3 p.m.

On this tour of the Wewelsburg District Museum, our tour guides examine the history of the Paderborner Land from the Stone
Age to the abolition of the Prince Bishopric in 1802. One of the tour highlights presents the origins of the Wewelsburg: a unique triangular castle.
We shall closely examining all levels of society: from the first estate and the clergy to the poor and the socially excluded strata. We shall also be
looking at the spheres of activity of the early-modern state, ranging from running jails to promoting trades and industry. Fascinating historical structures such as the historical witch‘s cellar, an original piece of the old “Hellweg” and the unique sacred art treasures dating from the Baroque period, create a vivid impression of life in Paderborner Land during the past few centuries.

This tour will inspire children and adults likewise!
Costs for the public guided tour: adults 3 €, reduced 1.50 €, Family ticket 6 €
